Hi neighbors. We wanted to give you a quick update on happenings in the neighborhood.
Pool
You may have noticed the cover has come off the pool. While we are excited for the summer season, the reason for it coming off a bit early is to address the issues with the rough texture along the bottom and edges of the pool surface. We’ve been inquiring with various experts and securing bids to polish and re-epoxy portions of the pool. We hope work will start soon and we are more hopeful we might get open a little before Memorial Day weekend. And enjoy our new pool furniture that arrived over winter.
If you do not have a pool key, please let us know and we will get you hooked up. If you have not paid your dues (there about 10-12 families who are delinquent), please pay them ASAP so your pool key and other services aren’t disrupted.
Landscaping
We have had a number of trees and large bushes removed from the trail, along Mission Road, and now near the pond that backs up to Water’s Edge. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we have worked through these areas over the past few years to address overgrown and sometimes damaged trees and shrubs.
We are investigating some landscaping options around the pool and fountains. We have requested bids for some native, drought tolerant plants that will be easier and cheaper to maintain but hopefully look beautiful. If we do that work, it might be fall or next spring but stay tuned.
We also want to hear needs and ideas for some of our cul-de-sac planters. We know some of them are bare and water is an issue, but if you have ideas and want to pursue some options to beautify or remove them, please let us know.
Fountains and Entrance
The fountains are ready to go for the season. We are conducting a cost analysis and may be converting the fountains into beautiful planters this fall. We have spent substantial funds to make the fountains functional for 4-6 months a year, and we are interested in exploring some options to make them beautiful all year. Again, if you have thoughts or ideas, please share them.
We are also exploring affordable options to update our sign. Our entrance sign is the first impression of our neighborhood, and while the sign is nice, it is a bit dated. This is not the highest priority item for the neighborhood, but we are exploring options and will have more to share in the future.
Socials and Events
We are targeting a neighborhood garage sale the weekend of May 2-4 this year. We will post signs near the neighborhood entrance a few days before the event. If anyone has any creative marketing ideas to promote the garage sale, please let us know!
We talked about bringing back some of the social events we used to hold in the neighborhood. Be on the lookout for a pool party poll where we can figure out a good time to bring us together around sunshine, the pool and food this summer. If you have other ideas for events or neighborhood clean up events, please be in touch.
Thanks everyone. If you have questions or ideas, or if you want to join us in caring for our neighborhood, please reach out.
